On Monday, March 27th JUNNY held his concert in Melkweg, Amsterdam! It’s the 9th stop on his Blanc Tour, and he has been to Belgium, Italy and Switzerland after. He performed in the “old hall”, with a capacity of 700 people. This made the concert feel pretty intimate and close. We were lucky enough to be attending this concert as press, thank you Melkweg!
The Venue: Melkweg, Amsterdam
The Melkweg is a pop podium and cultural centre in the midst of Amsterdam. The biggest hall is the Max, with a capacity of 1500. The Melkweg has been hosting names like U2, Nirvana, Prince and Lady Gaga in the past.
The accessibility is okay. From Amsterdam Central you can get a tram to get to the venue, with a stop very close to the Melkweg. Parking nearby is no problem either, although the costs might be pretty high. There were lockers available for 2 euro too, so you didn’t have to bring your bag or coat with you!
Queueing went well; there were barricades and there was a numbering system. Some people were queued at the wrong entrance though, so All photo source Alina Lutz, KpopConcertsEurope they had to be redirected. Maybe next time All
there could be more staff outside to direct the
fans to the right entrance.
The Concert: Supporting Act (DJ Minjeong)
Before the start of Junny’s concert, DJ Minjeong was there to hype people up! She performed different R&B party hits and a few Kpop songs, like Hype Boy (New Jeans), Vibe (Taeyang ft Jimin) and Next Level (Aespa). It got the vibe really well, and we hope to someday go to a party with her music!
The Concert: JUNNY
Junny started his performance off with one of his most famous songs: Color Me ft Chung Ha. The crowd was fired up, and there was time for a little bit of a break before the next song. Someone was in the crowd with a bath duck, which Junny saw and asked if the fan could throw it to him. So cute!
Next up was Obvious, and then a song about his ex: Blank, which the tour was named after too. He made time for a few BeReals, which fans loved as well! Then it was time for Mugshot ft UNE, and Aura ft Ph1. Of course Ph1 wasn’t present, but Junny’s talented enough to do the rap part himself.
Time for some dancing; Frame from JayB ft Junny, where he could show off a few dance moves, which the fans absolutely loved. Then Optimist, which he told us was written while on his America tour, and is about his fans.
“Maybe I'm an optimist (Maybe I'm an optimist, okay) Call me crazy, I'm just insane with a tiny twist (With a tiny twist, yeah)”
(JUNNY – Optimist)
Junny has been walking around Amsterdam yesterday to do some sightseeing. Let’s hope he enjoyed our city! Next was Early, and then Nostalgia, the latter with was written with JayB, but again Junny himself was able to sing his part well.
It was a fan’s birthday, so he sang happy birthday for her. The Dutch fans sang the Dutch version together too, which was a nice surprise!
It got sentimental with the song By My Side, Junny showcasing his vocal abilities in the high notes so beautifully. We hope to be by your side too, Junny! The next song needed to be “picture perfect” in his own words; and of course it was the song Movie. Junny said he needed to perform the next song, Sober, since he wasn’t able to sing it last tour; but it’s another break-up song, sorry guys!
He made time for a few requests, the first one being Alone, which he performed acapella. Then even an unreleased song, 8barellay, thanks to a fans’ sign held up in the air.
It’s a little over halfway of the concert. Next is the song Solo, and then a song for all the sexy ladies – and males in the house, because this song was for them: Distance. R&B song Trust All photo source Alina Lutz, KpopConcertsEurope (ft Punchello) was loved by the audience, and
Junny noticed that they loved the R&B sounds,
the crowd cheering as he added some dance
moves.
Amsterdam liked his sexy songs, which proved at Stay (ft Topbias Dray) too. Dancing song Zone was next, and then the audience was so hot that Junny felt the need to cool them down by throwing some water!
“So Amsterdam really likes R&B, water, BeReals and birthdays,” he summed up the concert pretty well. He did a few BeReals for other fans at the front and sang Happy Birthday for another fan. “Play Switch!” someone yelled, so he did a little bit of that song acappella.
Got The Weekend (with Paloato) was next, and then Get Ya (ft Ph1) and Oh. Unfortunately it was time for the concert to end then, and time to say goodbyes. He picks up a Dutch flag with his name and tour on it, and multiple written messages, and finishes fittingly with the song Thank U. The music slowly died down, only Junny’s beautiful vocals are left in the end.
After the last song he took a break before coming back and taking some photos with fans. Also after the concert he was outside, talking to some fans! We love his connection with his fans and it’s really the benefit of going to the concert of a smaller artist.
Hopefully we’ll get another chance to see you live, Junny! All photo source Alina Lutz, KpopConcertsEurope
